Well, ya don't have to buy it if ya don't want to! ;)

Assuming the lack of smileys means your serious... Newtek have not released any info on what they intend for the final 8.X version that upgraders will get but I somehow doubt very much if pretty tweaks are all you will get.
After all, why assume it is just a custom object- maybe the re-design has to do with added functionality.

Wait for [8] - if you are determined to be un-impressed - switch packages.
If you do want Newtek surprise you - who knows - maybe they will :D

It looks like area/linear lights have a different representation as well. Notice that long pink rectangle on the wall in the side viewports, they don't look like the current ones either.

Great model (I die for a Mini), but don't like the lighting.

Proton already showed this a long time ago. Even the camera and the other lights are represented differently.

Can't wait for this! Please show us more pics, Proton! Especially big ones. :)

He he proton you are playing with scene files and lighting :)

Guys here is original render from scene file (with lighting) but i think that proton is preparing more options so he's little bit carried away and bloomed lighting on scene ;).

BTW that pink rectangle is not anyting unnusual. That can be done on any area light or polygon with STRECH option guys :).

But spot lights sure do look different ;).

I just opened and rendered the scene...I'll have another look...I probably hit something I shouldn't have :P

Holy smoke! I've just noticed the comments regarding the lights!

v8 is looking more and more intriguing every day.

I hope they're not just cosmetic changes! (Although area and linear lights did need to be made more visible).

I hope lw8 will include not only tons of new objects but more importantly lots of scenes files to learn from. Would also be great for video effects to have lots of preset scenes where one could just add in their video footage and voila instant emmy :))

Lewis I've given up trying to buy your tutorial, the LWG site seems to be full of errors, I can't login because the 'page can't be found' which means I can't login to buy anything.

I've emailed the guys about it but it still doesn't work.

Matt,
Yeah, I found that, click 'forums', then use the login section on the right of the forum title bar - that works for me. :)
