Would this be useful, or so confusing it wouldn't matter?:

Have each layer in Modeler maintain its own UNDO history.

EG, I just altered something in Layer1, then positioned something in Layer 2. Now I realize I screwed up Layer1 and would like to UNDO it, but all the moves in Layer2 are 'in my way'.

I think it would be confusing. What happens if you have multiple layers visible?

I don't recall if undos are per object. My guess is no. I think that would be of value. I think Photoshop's History is like that.

There are undo features that are quite more pressing than this: UI(panels and tools) undos, selection undos, Modeler(change something)-Layout(update)-Modeler(no undos), etc, etc.

I thought of that, and it doesn't matter: any given layer only has one history for the stuff on it.

I would definitely pair this with a visible history to minimize confusion. AND, it could always be optional.

I just tested, and it seemed like undos ARE per object.

A modifier stack would solve it all.
