View Full Version : DPKit EDGE node: usage? Is it even the correct node to use?

I've got this simple shape.... simple but a PITA to get a decent bevel on the front, IMO. (attached) (I thought this would be an easy shape. I was wrong.)

Here's the shape:
112453

I'd like to get a nice bevel along the inside curve of the 'moon'. But not having much luck attempting it with DPKit Edge node. And maybe it's the wrong tool.

Anyone got any samples or guidance?

Also: what exactly is it that the EDGE output from the Edge node is outputting? The location of the edge? That portion of the mesh that is 'edgey'?

..from the doc, this is the edge distance,
simply shows the edge border if you connect it in diffuse.

Object should have brute hard edges, minimal subdivision
except the border for an extruded shape.
Based on geometry measurement Edge node doesn't work well
if the Edge is larger than the polygon.

Your moon is so simpler, so I do agree,
you should directly model the edge with Rounder
or some other tool.

Thank you Denis. I created an object similar to the one you used to create the Edge node illustrations and things are becoming a bit clearer to me. But there are many values and switches to play with.

I'll simplify my object and try again.
