Upon running LightWave 11.5, a folder was created in my Application Support folder alongside the other LW builds.
I just copied from 11.0 folder to 11.5.
Alternatively, have you run the License panel in Layout, where you can add the key.
(I am running with the Dongle in, whether this makes a difference!)

How do I find the license panel?

In Layout, under the items / help tab / enter license :)

When you start an unlicensed LightWave, you get a splash screen window. Drag the license.lwk file you have downloaded from your account page on lightwave3d.com onto this window, or indeed, onto your LightWave window and quit and restart LightWave. The lwk file will be put in the right place for you. No need to use the Help > Enter license menu item.

Just an added note. As you can see from my sig, my Mac is on 10.8.2 and the above-noted procedure works fine for me. I have contact with another Mac user who is still on 10.6.8 and it doesn't work for him.
