View Full Version : Parent a null to a Bullet Dynamic object

is it at all possible to parent a null to the movement generated with Bullet Dynamics of an object?
Can the Bullet dynamics be baked into keyframes?
I'm trying to transfer a scene to AE and use Particular emitting from the object in motion.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Not 100 percent sure of that. But off the top of my head, I'd probably bake / mdd the dynamics, then generate a path / null from a point on the dynamics and use that...

you might be able to bake out the mdd and then attach a null

Yes. You could create an mdd file and play it from "old" ClothFX and use the Edit Tab to add a null to a vertex with the "MakePath" command. Or even better, use Dennis Pontonnier BDScan, create a BDD file of the bullet dynamic, and then load it with "old" HardFX, and use again the Edit Tab to create a null which the "MakePath" command for the center of the desired piece which sounds even better for your situation.

Just guessing, but you maybe could also use DPKit to attach a null to a given PART in the object. You might have to do some hunting for the Part, but once you find it you're golden.

This is how I handle this too.

BDD_Scan + MakePath worked perfectly.
Thank you all.

Maybe Dp point info node and nodal motion could work too

IS it possible to do it with a fracture parts item, but the center of each fracture part? BD Scan doesn't scan a parts item?

I did use soft FX/Makepath but it only sees the vertex of each fracture part, not the center of the item.

If it's just a rigid body you can just parent your object to the dynamic object. So no need to bake it or scan to mdd's

Is there a script to have the dynamic object/make path for all dynamic parts at once? Or even with particles? Is it possible to convert them to nulls/paths all at once??

not sure where, but try the lwplugindb

there is a tool that converts particles to paths.

so you could add particles to the object's vertices (particles vertices mode i believe) then save those particles as a path with the plugin.

could work...
