View Full Version : Best camera setting for HD Letterbox like dimensions

What is the typical (industry standard) camera settings if I want to achieve a narrow letterbox like setting that is at least 1920 wide. I noticed many choices but not sure what would be standard. Also not sure if it would be better to keep the aspect ratio at 1.0 as higher settings sometimes distorts the output. I know this isn't describing much but I am interested in what the industry standard is when setting up for a pretty narrow dimensions. Note: The HD 1920 x 1080 would be too tall.
Thanks for any info that is supplied.

there's a few depending on the gate used... but a common "full cinema" one is a ratio of 2.35:1

So... 1920X(1920/2.35)

I set mine at 1920 by 800, based on screen grabs of movies.

Thanks RH and Shrox! I'll give them both a try.

1920x817 is 2.35

Its the resolution I've been using for a while now.
