Ok I am a lightwave neophyte and am having some difficulties
with the book Inside Lightwave 6. In particular I am having trouble
with the numbers used throught the book concerning bevels and
size, shift ext.

An example, In Chapter 10 for character modeling the book
says to bevel the eyelid four times and gives various dimensions
for each bevel; then shows a neat picture of how the result of
those bevels should look. But, if I use the exact numbers in the
book the result is nothing like that of the book, it is much to small.

I believe it may have to do with the Units tab, but the author
does not explain his settings for Units. Has anyone else ever
had this problem?

I believe he says to use SI for units. As long as you are entering the units consistently in the panels you should be okay. If he has mm in the example type mm after your number in the numeric etc. I would recomend not relying on his exact values and getting used to dragging to form the bevels etc. as you won't have exact numbers if you create your own model.
