View Full Version : FFX Causing Issues.....

Playing with FFX and am running into some problems...

If I load an object with guides grown in modeler, FFX doesnt seem to want to use them, however it will create fur on a poly.. The object is super simple...flat plane on one layer, ffx guides on the other layer.

After I try to set up fur, Im not longer able to move around in the veiwport, or switch views.

If I try to render hitting f9 it takes far too long to render, unless I deactivate ffx.

Anyone else get this problem?

Ok , I've been able to reproduce this on both my MacPro and Macbook Pro...both running OS 10.6.8.

Here is what I'm doing.....

In modeler:

Create a plane 2m x 2m 4 segments each side
Open FFX panel, grow guides and set them to about 60mm
Save the object

In Layout:

Open the object I just created
Open FFX panel
Activate the Fiber layer, turn on show .....nothing...

Render: Takes about 10 times as much time as it should....nothing...

On Mac Pro, the viewport becomes frozen, though LW is still functioning...I cant change view or move around.
On Macbook Pro, I dont get the freeze after rendering...but still no fibers...

If I activate the plane layer itself in FFX, then I get fur...its just refusing to use the fiber i made in modeler.

Did some more trying here is what I found....

My guides were all straight up, no bending or anything.

I made another plane, and opened ffx in modeler and added some jitter in the x and z direction ... that seems to work.

Is this normal that FFX will not work with linear guides that are point up?
