View Full Version : Flock adapting to a surface but...

I know this tutorial about it (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J3MogqYvQJI&list=PLBscyc2_NuEBa3yGB4AycBuZHd4KRvS2p&feature=player_embedded#!) but what I need it's the flock flying and ending over a surface, not all the time in the surface, just at the end of the animation (birds that are flying and at the end they land on the surface).

It hasn't to be realistic I just need they constitute a shape.

There's probably a couple of ways of doing it. My first though would be to make a copy of the mesh where you want them to land, in the shape you want, turn that copy into a separate mesh object and apply an Arrive director to it. Keyframe the weight on the Arrive director and the birds should land randomly scattered over it. I can do a video if that helps?

You could probably do something tricky with the node editor too , like raycasting but not moving the agent the full distance, just a fraction of it, so it flies along the ray to land on the mesh.
