Speed Modeling Challenge #206 - Mister Men / Little Miss
******************************************
Rules:

1. Every week there will be a subject for you to model along with a time limit. You should spend no longer than the allocated time, then post a render of your model. As in most challenges like this, your honesty on modeling times is essential. How you interpret the brief is up to you as long as the final model conforms to what is asked for.
2. Post a wire-frame and a render at 800x600 or larger.
3. LightWave must be used for modeling. 3rd party Plug-ins are allowed.
4. You can enter as many times as you like, posting each in this thread. If you run over the time, the model can still be posted but won't be subject to the judging.
5. Time spent on texturing, setting up a scene for a render and rendering is not included in the allocated period.
The winner is judged by the challenge starter and the prize is to set up the challenge after next week's.
******************************************

Mr.Grumpy

The reference of him his edges are alot sharper, but I decided to round out his boxy shape a bit.

Modeling Time = 40 minutes.

The hands took the longest and you can't even see the fingers in the render T_T.

Here is Mr. Clever. I am so new to Layout that I cannot set up a well lit scene so I am only posting the wires. How do I delete lights in Layout? How can I get a well lit scene like XswampyX? I can set up in Max but in Layout not for the life of me. Are there any good tuts to light a basic scene well?111285

there is a studio light setup on our site , however to remove lights , make sure you are on the correct light and hit the minus key (-) that will clear any object you have select , layout is easy mate , well light that is a different story but create a ground plane add a spot light aim at the model , and a point light aim it near the model ... hit f9 or if you have VPR let that do the work and save the vpr screenshot

This is my first entry in the speed modelling challenge, really enjoyed doing it. So here's Mr.Tickle - modelling time about 40 mins. Texturing/rigging/posing about an hour. :)

Hey thanks! I think the new modelling tools in 11.5 have massively improved my workflow - slice for one helps you get out of tricky poly flow situations really quickly. I don't think I'd have done this in the allotted time if it wasn't for that.

As much as I like what's been done so far, I think the ladies have been a little under represented....

So may I present..... Little Miss Busy.
Where she's going on a foggy moor with a Lightwave book in hand I have no idea. If you ask me, I think she's up to sumthin'! (M.I.B. scene (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRXNNqNfQBs))

Oh yeah.... overtime. Gonna try again.

Simon, unless something has been added to 11.5 for rendering wires, pick up the polygon coloring plug here (http://www.artssphere.com/plugins/polygoncoloring.php).

Number 2: Little Miss Star.
See, the high heel challenge came in handy. :)
Past deadline. :oye:

Great work everyone, good on yas for giving it a go

VictoryX - fascinated by how My.Grumpy's wires have taken me to another planet, that part around the mouth especially ..i think it's AWESOME!
OnlineRender - I like how your Mr.Strong is not going anywhere unless he feels like it. Actually - I'm quite in awe of the sheen in those muscles, trying to work out how the wires would make it so.
bellmore - you've taken the art of using polygons for nose design to a whole new level with Mr.Nosey, I will have to give that a go myself. Mr.Clever, very brave work with the mouth - I was too terrified to even try! A splendid effort!
XswampyX - now we all know that your Mr.Bumpy just totally rocked, yes - I noticed his fingers in your second one and you did a very good job of making me count fingers. What I don't understand ..is if his pants melted off(?) Sick textures -- even the reflectionů sheesh. Well done.
Simon-S - you champion, going for Mr.Tickle FTW!! You also took the smart route in modelling him as a predominantly symmetrical character with straight arms too, good forward thinking! :D
JoePoe - now that Little Miss Busy, just MADE MY DAY and I know, you know why. Just what the doctor ordered! The LW book was so perfect too. I wanna see her move! Same with Little Miss Star as well ..but Ms.Busy's hair & glasses were just so ....awwwww :D

umů Oků and now for Dr.Tickle to make the announcement!
<drum roll>
