Whats the difference between time warp and 3play?

3PLAY is a dedicated unit, Timewarp is an add-on to a TriCaster. Timewarp will use one record channel and one DDR channel to operate. On a TC455 and higher this isn't a big deal since you have multi-channel recording and 2 DDR players. But on a TC40, this does mean that your single record channel is now a instant replay channel and the one DDR is being used for instant replay.

Beyond that 3PLAY offer the additional following abilities.
- Continuous record (even if you mark your In/Out points incorrectly, you can edit them to cover the action).
- Interpolated Slow Motion (smooth slow motion effects even at very low speeds).
- Multi-Angle Capture (capture up to 4 or 8 angles simultaneously and mark them all at once)
- Interface designed specifically for instant replay work.
- One button marking (better style of marking for sports that have difficult to mark plays like basketball, hockey and soccer)

There is more than this as well, but those are some of the big differences.
