How do you guys deal with parenting in place animated objects?

I was 50% into an animation when I realized I needed to parent an object to another. Unfortunately, the object I am parenting does not have a 'master' null at 0,0,0 which I typically do, its just animated. So now when I parent in place, LW only adjust stuff for that one frame (0), and not every animated frame like After Effects would do for example, so the animation goes crazy.

I seem to have answered my own question this time. I ended up creating a new null to act as parent at 0,0,0. I then parent the animated object to it without 'parent in place'. This parents the object without distorting its position/rotation. I can then 'move pivot' of the null, where I need the pivot to be (instead of leaving it at 0,0,0).

I feel like LW should convert all key frames (or provide an option) of an object to the new coordinate space when you parent something with 'parent in place', instead of just the keyframe you were on at the time of using the parent in place command. :)
