While the next version of Xbox will get an IBM processor, I'm not so sure it'll be a G5 (970).

It's interesting that MS is moving to RISC technology for the Xbox. Especially after all the talk that "RISC is dead".

Why does Microsoft continue to lose money by making Xboxes? Microsoft is a company that operates out of fear, rather than inspiration. MS fears that game platforms may one day be the main internet gateway to the home.

Currently Microsoft has a monopoly and dominates the computer operating systems market. The Xbox will become Microsoft's tool to not only dominate the software, but also the hardware platform as well.
