Was sad to read that CarbonScatter 2 does not even include Lightwave as a possible host app.
Only Maya Max and C4D are listed. Given that decent landscape options are always welcome in a 3D package I would have thought it
a given Newtek would have been on top of this one.
Hopefully it is in the works.

yes..that sounds a little sad, I thought I saw somewhere long time ago on e-on site, that carbon scatter was on the way for lightwave and cinema when it was only available for 3dmax and maya, and now cinema has it, but I could be wrong about the lightwave part, canīt find anything about it now though.

I curious to find out how fast and how effective it is in handling amount of instances, clearly it is more workflow effective that you can spray paint instances.
It also comes with 100 plants, they say eco technology..but then I wonder if it is solid growth eco technology? I mean..Is every new plant instanced unique ..so the variations are done upon creation, or is it using premade variations?, in such case that wouldnīt be different from having a large library with variations of trees and adding them in Lightwave.

Other + against instancing in Lightwave?

Yes..I was right..Lightwave is under consideration. softimage was the other one ..not cinema since that already is supported.

"
Support of other Host Applications

Currently, Carbon Scatter is only available for 3ds Max, Maya and Cinema 4D.

You will automatically receive access to the other applications as soon as they are supported.

A version for LightWave and Softimage is under consideration, however feasability is hard to assess at this point and a version for these applications should not be expected for a while."

looks alright, i'm sure NT are looking into making spraying clones easier in LW though.

I havenīt had time to test, but I wonder if it would update properly If you use the plugin weight paint for layout, and has instancing active with weight map control?

I thought sumatra had layout spraying of trees, but not sure..maybe only modeler.
http://svenart.de/sumatra_about.htm

Place mesh ..which is a cool addition for modeler ..is what I would like for layout, and with instances, cool for rocks on geometry and trees but, heavy polycount unless we can use instances...and there you go, intergrate modeling tools to layout:)

i think the weight should make the instances update... instantly... (.)

hm, sumatra, interesting. haven't tried that one, maybe i should... i see there is a free demo, hmm, tempting...

hehe, yeah, Modeler tools into Layout indeed... :]

veggipaint is also an option..is supposed to wok with kray instancing..and Hd instance, why not dp_instance or native Lightwave instance?

yeah, problem with Veggi though is that it is a stand-alone, not a plugin...

so no option for placing trees etc through camera.

checked, nah, Sumatra can't move / place individual trees in Layout... :\

I'm thinking more about this in the fashion I did ZBrush integration. Which did finally occur.
Already existing tech that could be used in a easy and effective way a LOT sooner than something being
considered in later version of our preferred program. Hopefully this one won't take quite as long.
