What is Skytracer? What does it do.
I have seen many environments with the sky in the backround, is that what skytracer is for

That's what it's used for. There's the Skytracer2 also. You can do Atmosphere, clouds, suns, haze etc. I actually like Eki's PlugPak for this better though. And with that (Skytracer and Eki's) there's Presets you can open up for some variation.

how do you change the colors? Since it is automatically a gradient from blue to white to orange.

Check out this:

http://forums.newtek.com/discus/messages/2/33918.html?1036156554 It explains how to use an alpha map to change the color to whatever you want.

Also, you can bake your skytracer into an image and then you can manipulate that in photoshop.

EDIT: If there's a simpler way, I'm not aware of it, I don't use skytracer that much yet.

aren't SKYTRACER and SKYTRACER2 the same thing (in 7.0)? i've yet to find a button for a SKYTRACER2.

I have both. I'm using 7.5 . Maybe Skytracer2 started with 7.5 .
In skytracer2 the interface is quite different. More streamlined. It kind of seems like the second doesn't have as much settings. I haven't used it much.

OK, can you tell me where it is? it's not with SKYTRACER, which is where i would have expected it to be.

Check the "Legacy_Plugins\Layout" folder.

I'd recommend using OGO_Taiki, as it's many times better than skytracer because it generates volumetric clouds, as opposed to a background image. Now, the big draw back is it'll also increase render times by about... 800%... or more... but, still, it's awesome. Another prob: I don't know where to buy it at. I've been over the site but there's no buy option, but it does come with some VERY nice preset scenes.
