Sorry to hear that. It sucks when it happens, especially this time of year. Hope you get something else sorted soon.

Better before Christmas than after, when you have spent all your money!

Sorry to hear that Cresshead :( On the same note, an hour or so ago Eurocom in Derby, where I had a few old colleagues still working, went into administration.

Also sorry to hear that Cress. I hope something turns up.

Regarding Eurocom, yeah, I knew a few people there too who I used to work with. They stripped 200 people so I heard... not good.

thanks for the replies.
yeh crap timing!
talking to my boss, he's killing off this company due to his divorce - ex wife wanting and also the taxman who's been less than understanding

there's some options for a Phoenix - - though a few things need to mature before it starts up and they will then want me back onboard - new company new name etc..

until then i'll play it as no job and no prospect just in case..

Absolutely! You might find something better, and even if he does start another company there's no reason to think it'll be more stable in long-term.

Sorry to hear that. How about teaching? With your skills in software you might pick up work in your local College.

This happened to a friend. In a long run it was better for him, and he's doing a lot more right now. I hope you find something soon.

Yeah, sorry to hear about that Cress. I've been working freelance for a marketing agency a state away from me. Oddly enough, this was one of the better years for me [not really really great -but definitely better]. I'll keep you in mind if I come across a project that's too big for me to handle alone.

No... don't put it in your name. OR, put it in HER name and bankrupt company! >;-)

Cresshead, sorry mate! Cor Blimey! Cheers! And other English words of sympathy...

had a meeting for some freelance work at a sport science company last thursday, to turn their printed books into ibooks, they say we'll make a start in January...so nice words, let's see if they turn into deeds in jan 2013!

Sorry to hear about this Steve. I've been in the same situation twice. The second time it happened, I decided to stay freelance, and it was the best move I've ever made - both financially and in terms of personal growth.

I can't say for sure if your situation is the same, but all I can say is - there is lots of work out there for good 3D artists!

Subtract the 'sport' and that would be my ideal job!

Sorry to hear that Steve, I feel for ya. Lost my job this year as well and there is no such thing as "a good time" to lose ons income, but xmas time is surely a sucky time.

well...today was supposed to be when the world ended...and i would be handed my redundancy letter...

hold the phone!
stay of execution!

...we got paid today and the boss said we'll muddle thru january so no lay off's just yet!...so looks like we're all there for at least another month!
i can tell that totally changed my mood today!

also chatted to the other company this afternoon ( i visited a week or so back for some freelance work)...that looks to still be on track for january...just a day a week
but...that's looking like a good second string to my bow!

so nice to post a bit of positive news!
