Hey all,

I'm trying to build up my render farm but don't know where to start. I don't care too much for a great video card since it will be rendering mostly on the CPU and I can update that later. I'm looking to spend about $600-800
Any suggestions on builds would be VERY much appreciated.
I was looking at this CPU but don't know much about the intel / AMD war.. just that AMD is cheaper haha

Was also looking at this for possible future graphics card but don't really need this now:

yeah.. looks like intel Xeon has a huge lead haha. But they're also a LOT more expensive.. with the AMD FX-8350 ($199) I could buy like..10 of these for the price of one Intel Xeon E5-2690!
A lot of those are quad-core too right? I thought I read somewhere that more physical cores were better at raytrace rendering? I don't know how that works at all.. that's why I'm doing research and asking y'all who know a lot more ;)

For lw, beaten by an old sandy cpu I5 2500. A new ivy cpu I7 still bang for the buck .
