Sometimes it really bugs me how obvious the bad CG is and normal people don't see it.

Or as my wife refers to it as "spoiling the magic".

I see bad cg and think.. I wonder how much they got paid for that.

Thats kinda interesting because I've talked to people that have seen really nice CG and they still hate it, for whatever the reason, they just don't know how to talk about why they hate it.

I love well done cg.. but even better when you don't notice it's cg... like a lot of the Dark Knight Rises shots.

Yeah it's just hard to tell when people are being biased just because they can or they really don't like something because it just looks awkward to them. I've talked to people that don't like pixar type style stuff either just because it was animated with computers OR because it looks weird to them because it's not realistic enough for them. At that point I begin to think they just hate something in particular that has nothing to do with the stylistic quality at all but something that is indirectly related to stylized art or something personal against computers. So obviously hiding the fact that something is CG isn't going to help a person like something that looks stylized, digital or not.

But of course, if the goal is to hide the fact that something didn't exist before (Video FX) a CG artist put it in the shot synthetically, then I'd say that we are definitely getting there and that this is far more technically feasible these days.

I think that's where terrestrial tv shows get over looked big time , even programs like Emerdale , walking dead , terra nova ect half the time a lot of it is shot on blue screen simplistic things like trees added backgrounds removed , boom mics deleted suppose its signs of a good artist!

Slapping 0 on the num pad to fullscreen has happened to me a few times.

I often pass awesome things by in the real world and wish I could take a picture so I could use it as a texture map.

I am constantly looking at things around me and 1)think about how I'd model it (mainly drinking glasses for some odd reason) & 2) figure out the textures (try to figure out procedurals first)

Or wishing I had an HDRI of the current lighting

When you realize your fingers know which hotkeys to use but your brain completely blanks if you have to think about it...you develop a taste for cold coffee...routinely experience 12-hour time lapses...go into LightWave withdrawal while doing routine system maintenance...begin to wonder what the world looks like when the sun is shining...suddenly notice you first registered in the LW forums back in 2003 and are humbled to discover how much you still have to learn. But you complain about new upgrade release dates anyway!

And yes, by "you" I mean "me." :)

Why not remap your hotkeys to fit your workflow? I moved "delete" to "z"; "-" is the hide geometry key.
