I know this is a pretty big request but I have been playing with Blender and these two features are awesome. Blender does not actually have a decent renderer but these two features negates many of its render shortcomings. It gives a workaround to almost any rendering problem that you may encounter.

Render layers - ability to separate objects and lightings into different render passes

Built-in compositor - ability to use render buffer directly as input into a node based image compositor.

For years, my wet dream was to have fprime and hd instances incorporated directly into Lightwave.
Now, this is my new one...
