View Full Version : "Glints" and "glinting"-- starbursty reflections off pointy objects?

What's the preferred method to accomplish a really pronounced 'glint' reflections off a pointy reflective object? Think 'polished suriken'.

And it's actually a cloud of these things (actually 'snowflakes'), so "onesy-twosey" solutions aren't so good.

THANKS!

Very close, but more restricted to the side facets of the snowflakes. (The sides (do/should) have a separate Surface.) In my setup, the flakes are much closer/larger to the camera, so the distinction would be more obvious.

Swampy, was that done via Corona?

Erikals, not exactly, although I'd like to hear about the methodology in your image also.

Thanks, fellas.

Swampy, I plumped up the flakes to get a bigger reflecting surface off the side-facets, but that is probably the wrong direction, as now they just look like cookies with snow on them, and they lost the twinkling aspect yours did.

I'll revert to yours and give it some more shots. It IS interesting that the Z-scale has such a qualitative effect on the , errr, Effect.

Mucho gracias por le help.

Here's another stab at it. Using a custom texture in the corona tab to get more of a twinkle. Just a single flake to get the effect better. :)

Looks nifty-- I'm not sure I'm aware of that feature of Corona.

cagey5's right. It's an Xvid..... Strange because I couldn't upload it to you tube so I put it in there. Try changing the name of the file. I'll post it on you tube.

Here's another one.
