Used to be available for 3dsmax but didn't sell well so was ported and further developed for maya where sculpted deforms may have a higher requirment.

many AAA game titles cut scenes/games made with 3dsmax just don't get that level of detail...it's more of a feature film requirement (maya)
so it makes more sense to develop for maya even though there's a much smaller user base than 3dsmax.

Yeah, Well- Great Eh,
This is written by a Gentleman, and I mean that in the best terms,
who wrote a stonking Lightwave Plug-in ( Shave & Haircut ) once upon a time!

It had a great, fast endomorph joysticker & was the forerunner of TAFA.
(I loved It!)

I wonder if now that Mr. Powers could be talked into enticing him back
under this new regime? :phone_cal

An outstretching would surely do no harm to, so many old devs?

That's the concept behind blender ANIMSCULPT and that's what I've asked during years for LW developers and newtek to do.
Sculpt attached to driven keys.

Only available to Max. So sad!

Messiah has point animation. It is a very interesting tool. Certainly not on this level. But it is in principle the same thing. You have sculpt tools that you can animate through time over bone animation. Once you learn how it is best used you could do quite a lot with it. And then from there it would depend on the level of detail on the mesh. The sculpting tools are limited but it works.

There is an interesting thread on it here:

I was kind of deep into it for a while and figured out quite a bit about how to layer it in Composite so you could effectively sculpt with layers that you can move, scale and position on a timeline over mutiple tracks. Pretty damn powerful.

one of my favorites these days is fStretch. It's a tension deformer. I believe there is one for messiah as well but the real joy is to be able to sculpt your deformer meshes in the same app.

I saw something done with bump maps in lightwave that mimic this effect too but I wouldn't know what to do if I wanted to do it with geometry cages however.

We need Dodgy explain us better this : http://youtu.be/cXQcJOiR6AA

And we need a plugin like fStretch and LBrush for lightwave that will easelly key shapes in association with bones rotations.
