View Full Version : Fake radiosity with Spinning Lights

Can someone remind me how this technique goes? I've been trying to remember it , though my recollection is bad.
I have tried this. You set up a scene with about 20 spotlights pointing at your object all with fuzzy shadow maps, parented to a null and targeting it. You then spin the null 360 degrees in the first frame and add a post and pre behavior of liniar to it. The Camera is given motion blur.
It's not working too well though. I'm getting fluttering in the shadows. Does anyone remember this one?

I would post the link I had to a tutorial I had gotten from CGTalk but, it appears to be a dead link now.

You might wanna check out Overcaster from my PlugPak

It creates the spinning light rigs automaticly, and allows you to control the lights with LW sliders.

There's a few other useful scripts available in the same package too ;-)

You can use the scripts for free, if you don't mind some nagging requesters, and a random time delay (these appear only when setting up the lighting - after that it's just a regular LW scene).
