Well, my radio control helicopter stuff has chewed up my whole 3D rendering season. There have been some changes around here!

Anyway, the manufacturer that I fly for is doing some magazine advertising and asked if I would make up an ad for him. Here's what I came up with.

And here's the rendered part by itself.

BTW I like the new forum.

Oh, and as you can see, LightWave helped me design and build the canopy that the manufaturer is now producing. :D

Nice layout Mal. And nice images too. Amazing detail in the close-ups. How long did it take you to do this model?

I'll stick with RC planes. It's a need for speed thang.

Hm, "Life imitates LightWave?"

Thank goodness I don't crash my car as often as LW crashes my computer.;)

The BG pic is the only render. The model took me about 1 month of playing in me spare time. It is built to scale with all the ball links, bell cranks, screws, linkages, etc. I still need to finish the motor and tail. The ones on it for the render were just thrown together so I could make the ad deadline. :)

A while back you were designing an RC heli cowl. Did your design make it to production?

This is it. :D

Where are the pin clips to keep the body in place? Or don't helis use clips like RC cars? Just being picky.;)

If you look at the real picture in the bottom left corner of the ad you will see what was decided on for the mount system. Helis use thumb screws and this heli uses four of them.

There are plenty of other things missing from the heli than just that. ;) The model is quite incomplete, but the picture is finished. :)
