When i turn on IK/deform the Mesh just bends out of control. How do i get the mesh back normal with those settings still on? Thanks.

Are your bones rested properly?

A few possibilities... not rested at base, things not rested at scale 1, incorrect weighting.

I believe i have the bones rested. I selected all the bones and pressed R. It helped, but still have some deform issues. Is there a good tutorial you guys can recommend? I searched Youtube, but there's nothing about proper weights or scale.

Setup, Modify, Orientation, Record Bone rest position ought to do the trick after selecting all the bones at 0. For some reason pressing r doesn't seem to work for me either, maybe keyboard shortcut is disabled. Think of bones as magnets. If you want to refine their field of influence add weight maps to your model. If you've applied weight maps make sure the bones are associated with them. One tip, never scale bones using the Transform, Size control or things will go haywire. Resize bones within the bone properties panels using Rest Length. Hope this helps.

Weights are simple... a given weightmap just defines the areas of the mesh that a givven bone or bones (which are set to that weight) influence. Scale is even easier... make sure every bone has Scale 1,1,1.
