The damned fire nearly got us, but luckily it blew away as it came within three and a half miles from here. I disconnected this computer, loaded our faily albums and wedding pics, and got the hell out of Dodge.

It has been a painfully boring and nerve-wracking four days since we left. Now that we're back, I hooked up the computer, got 96 e-mails (almost all spam), and logged on to here.

I MISSED YOU BASTARDS!

I hope you didn't leave your dongle behind! ;)

Glad to hear you came out ok. I'd love to move back to california, but things like this make me think twice.

Glad you and your family are OK.

From the looks of it on the news it's getting worse and not better yet. I just hope they catch the bastards that started it.

Cheers,
JS

the fire just seems to get out of control on a daily basis, hope it doesn't turn out like in British Columbia.

but at least you and your family are safe, that's the main thing.

good luck

Thanks, guys. Yes, I brought the dongle along. Otherwise, the Viagra would've been of little use. ;-)

This was a pretty hairy fire. Sadly, many of the "treasures" of San Diego county have been lost. Right now, Julian is at the epicenter, and may be lost. Gonna miss those apple pies...

Some of the fires are still burning around this area. But the sky is pretty clear around our house, so I don't think the fire will backtrack to this particular area.

Some jerk off hunter who got lost set the largest of the fires here in San Diego. He said he lit a signal fire to find his buddy. A fire in the middle of dry brush!!

Now, over 750 homes have been lost, 500 acres of wilderness are gone, and over 12 people were burned or suffocated.

I hope the dweeb is convicted of a felony. And, what the hell is he hunting? I wasn't even aware we had hunting in this county. We've developed the area so much, we should leave the remaining animals alone, for godsake...

Make that 500,000 acres of wilderness and open area burnt, not 500.

LoL!

Aye, it's time we started an open hunting season on rednecks!

...is not much of a mystery. There's a sheriff of one of the counties in California that has stop-frame video from a freeway camera showing one of GRAY DAVIS' personal family cars getting off the freeway and then getting back on about 2 minutes before one of the fires broke out in exactly that spot... !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:D Believe it or don't :)

It's interesting in these fire situations that the first thing people want to save (apart from themselves) is their photos.

I always like to back up my photos. Make copies (paper or CD) and send one copy to a relative of friends house. Then you'll know that, whatever else, you'll always have your treasured photos.

glad your place got spared. 96 spam emails in 4 days?

If I don't check email in 4 days I would probably get 300!
yep, I'm getting ready to kill that email address.

Anyways, glad to hear back from you Bastard!:D

...a bit of real information. (not a joke like my last post)
The first person arrested for setting at least one of the fires is Dikran Armouchian, 23, of Pasadena. I think that name is Turkish. Probably a 'sleeper'. Looks like terrorists to me...

Nobody knows that.

It's annoying, people stupid enough to not think about the consequences of their own dumb-f*ck actions. Ohhhh that pisses me off..
We had the same thing happen down here a few years back, some moron lit fires all along the farming regions outside the suburbs. Then there were the hedge fires... Someone went around to people's houses that had large hedges out the front, doused them with kerosene, and set them alight. One right across the street from us..
Grrrr. Only humans are capable of being purposely stupid..

Glad to see you back DigiLusionist, and a relief to hear you're alright.

Hey Digi glad to see you back.

I heard on the news tonight that they're charging the guy with man-slaughter.

Good. A beautiful 16 year old girl died trying to escape, and now her family is devastated. My girls are 7 and 4, and it hurts me to imagine ever losing them.

I've been on an animating kick since I got back. Can't seem to stop redoing a walk and run cycle for the NewDude I downloaded. Must be a sign of stress, or something.

Thankfully, things are getting back to normal. Except the makeshift relief center is right next to my house, so we drive by and see the hundreds of people who are sifting through donation boxes every day. One woman at the supermarket asked me where it was last night. Her eyes were sunken and haunted. Poor people...

I'm glad everything is ok with your family and yourself Digi. And I am glad this guy is getting what he deserves.

I know seeing people put out of their homes because they were evacuated or they lost their homes, is really depressing. I put everything I owned in storage, so whe I get back from Japan I'll go through it and donate a bunch of furniture and clothes.

Oh, I have something for you. ;)

Holy large image... I'm on wireless dail-up, it's a killer.. can't wait to get back to sweet DSL.. I mean America. :D

I just got done watching the news, they were talking about how the people in the evac centers are celebrating Halloween. Seeing all the kids smiling and playing made me feel a hell of a lot better.

I have to remember to turn off avitars and images in my prefs.

Hey Digi it looks like your in amongst it there. We'll be heading into summer soon down here in Sydney, which usually means lots of bushfires for christmas.
