I'm looking for any suggestions about books or tutorials online that address how to texture and light or any other techniques for bringing a realistic look to models mainly such things as spacecraft.
I'm very interested in green screening with live actors and making the 3D elements look real and not CG. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I use LW 10 64 bit and Adobe Production Studio Premium. AfterEffects 5.5.

Thanks again
Jim

Lynda.com

Books :

Lightwave V9 Lighting, Nicholas Boughen
Lightwave 3D 8 Texturing, Leigh Van Der Byl

the fast answer >

-high GI settings (bounces and samples)
-good, detailed models
-good texturing / lighting http://www.daveschool.com/index.php/gallery/tutorials
-hdri (or DP sunsky plugin - http://dpont.pagesperso-orange.fr/plugins/Sunsky.html)
-set colorspace in lw to sRGB
-some times gamut adjustments can be good. (not gamma, but gamut)
-tonemapping (especially for interiors)
-ambient occlusion (don't over-use)
-color adjustments and bloom in post (or in lw, SG_CCTools plugin)

note that lw interiors render so-so... you might wanna use Kray or Octane.
exteriors on the other hand is no problem.
