a little project whilst stuck in a hospital sick bed for a few days...

having been mucking around with the prohibitively expensive "boujou" demo (£10000) vicon.com/boujou/product-range/boujou-5/
i decided to try the extreme other end of the scale the free "voodoo tracker" digilab.uni-hannover.de/docs/manual.html

it took about 3x longer to track but looks good to me.

dodgy shakey iphone footage, tracked in voodoo, used a quick panorama image of the room (iphone again, photosynth) to act as a kind of hdr lighting, both bunged into lightwave with my clara character object, where i rendered her, an occlusion pass for the ground shadow and a ground reflection. then after effects for comping, motion blur depth of field and a bit of grading\colour correction.

You had better luck than me tracking my apt building. Looks good.

tracking looks really good.

More importantly, what's wrong with you? Are you gonna make it?

Bravo result is really nice, a animation ahead?

In free (PLE) ago Icarus also gives good results.

Paying and affordable, there PFHoe (based on Icarus).

The Pixel Farm has announced the end but it's still available until the end of the year (they make an offer to crossgrade to PFMatchit to 80€ for registered users).

Can be exported to LightWave.

I wanted to try pfhoe but thought it was totally cancelled. I'll see if I can still get it.

voodoo was good, a little slow and had to eyeball the ground to make my object seem to sit straight , they have a demo of the pro version "vocat" but without an export in the demo there's no way of knowing whou good it is.

hah, no animation at this stage. maybe if other projects stand aside.

I forgot to mention, I used lightbitch for the lighting to keep rendered fad and flicker free, I also drew markers on the table in marker pen which I then removed in after effects.

so after realizing i can still buy pfhoe (for only £49) i downloaded it and WOW 20 minutes later a fast and solid track with a lightwave scene output.
that 20 minutes included 10 minutes of tutorial videos. may take them up on their £100 upgrade to pfmatchit (half price in total)

http://www.thepixelfarm.co.uk/product.php?productId=PFMatchit

and nope not affiliated with them in any way

How long IS 3x longer?

ps: 4700 posts! I finally see an even number!

I see you can still buy PFHoe, but there was no problem with the license or anything?

it took about 30 minutes to track...

nope no issues, looks like they're still selling it until December. a proper bargain indeed

Sorry to tell you, but the upgrade offer is only available to registered users before the offer became available (AFAIK)!

That's disappointing.

That's disappointing.
If PmG's thing ($40 messiah) worked for them, ma¥be we can enti¢e them to do $omething $imi£lar.

It doesn't change the quality of PFhoe. And its price is more than adequate. For the license this is really not a problem. There is no dongle or online registration. In 10 years it will still work, in a Virtualized PC ;)

Does that change is past the end of the year it can no longer be purchased and there will be no web site. They have already removed the content.

PFhoe and PFMatchit are different. PFhoe is ideal for standard cases: simple, fast, effective and exports to LighWave.

After there Voodoo, Icarus and Blender. They are free.

This is my opinion but the investment is worth it for PFhoe. It does not commit anything to test.

i got an email with the offer after i registered, think they may want to fix that if its not valid

Maybe they have changed the offer conditions then (which is good).
My email indicated the full price for PFMatchit as £500, but it has been reduced to £300 on the website (and PFTrack reduced to £1000).
If you log into your account on PFHoe, you will see the option to upgrade (if it is valid).

They revamped their product line. We were notified by e-mail. For more reading here:

I've never looked at Icarus. it looks simple enough, but does it output for LightWave?

Has anyone tried the AE 3d tracker in CS6? I don't have it and haven't demoed it, but am interested to see how the results work out. I guess exporting to Lightwave might be an issue since there is no exporter from AE>LW

I will be evaluating it this evening and post results soon, I've done couple of initial test and surprisingly it worked quite well:thumbsup:
BTW. Since you can't export direclty to Lw at the moment I'm gonna try Frederik Stenson Script for Modo and export as FBX maybe, there's also a script for AE that can output to Lightwave but it hasn't been updated for the CS6 so far...

Sorry for hijacking the thread, done a little test with the AE6 Camera match with some shaky footage done earlier on(it was saturday morning I think) , no markers, pretty much few clicks operation.
And the mentioned above script works in AE CS6 :)

107924
107925

And the scene with the camera data exported http://www.mediafire.com/?vkkizgajm22464g

Quite happy with the results for something that is built-in.

It works well and is a nice addition. It isn't meant for export, but to work together with other features of After Effects. For Motion Design is very good.

I use the Creative Cloud. This is a good offer from Adobe. For those who want to try, one month trial offer.
