hm ... i do not think so, because this image also looks very realistic without textures

i think it is because of the natural colortextures and the incredible detail which makes this image so belieable.
shure there is some postwork in photoshop, but it is not the primary tool ;) i think ...

A bit tongue in cheek :)
But it is often sooo underestimated. Truth is it could be a straight render, who knows. My point being it is eminently achievable in any 3d app.

Trees made with GrowFX and SpeedTree, scattered with Forest Pack. Mountain heightfield made with World Machine. Clouds made with Terragen.
