View Full Version : How to construct a nodal based 'point to target'?

Hi There

I have a number of items which I wish to point to target - the targets being vertices on a single control object (vertices obviously can't be loaded into the 'target item' slot - only complete objects). So I'm trying to do it nodally.

I can get the world coordinates of the vertices with DP Kit Point Info. But what is the nodal flow in item Nodal Motion panel to get the items to point at these vertices? (The trig is alluding me. I've been attempting to convert the world location of the vertex minus the world location of the item to an appropriate angle / rotation for the item. But perhaps there's an easier way than trig?).

:D

edit: a slight modification of this would be to target specific particles using DP Kit particle info, which could create interesting possibilities.

Any ideas appreciated!

Vector1 - Vector2
then Normalize
and you have vector pointing directly to Vector1
in other words what you have in Item Info > Forward vector.

DPKit AlignTo node?
