View Full Version : X-Men Pin Map

I'm trying to build a similar effect to the x-men pin map where a field of 3d pins are pushed up to form a structure or image.

I understand the basic concept of using a grey scale image which determines the height of the pins but am at a loss as to how you apply that to the field of pins to create the animation.

Can anyone offer some advice or point me in the right direction? Thank you.

Yep... Wills tut is great. An alternative now is to use nodal and something like DP part move.

If you have LW11, I would go with instances in a rectangular array. Just tried it out a bit, works like a charm and uses a lot less memory.

Be sure to use the nodes of the 'instance generator' screen for the placement of the individual instances. Offset min & max should be used, probably with the same node connector source.
