Ok, now that I have your attention . . . does anybody have a nice model of a UFO? I've been trying for sometime now; I'm excellent at applying the right materials and textures, however, I can't seem to get the hang of modeling>>will someone please help me, or point me to a website with good/free UFO models?:help:

There might be a few people who have them. Once upon a time, there was a competition over at SpinQuad to model a UFO. Maybe the participants might have their model laying around and let you use it.

There were a couple of beauties over on Spinquad in the Contest section a while back.
Don't know if they are still up or not, however.

Sketchup warehouse is full of them, could serve as a starting point anyway.

That's what I was thinking the body is easy. The panels are jsut a grid texture... But those rivets have me stumped. I assume its nodes

Edit. Maybe using dots with a smaller grid some how as the alpha.

Remember (man, I sure hope someone does!) these guys? Go get 'em, Skydiver!

Although I have to say that modeling it made me realize that it was probably the worst design of the entire show. I mean, it's a bit... well... too simple? But then again - they're aliens! What do I know?! Sorry, Gerry & Sylvia!

Done this time ago for the spinquad ufo contest, glad to share the model if you need it.
Sorry but no layered surfaces, don't remember why.

speaking about UFOS...

a little off topic....

but usefull to get a real UFO design..

This girl says she had several babies with aliens and she also have pictures of OVNIS.

I added her on facebook, but I don't speak italian and she does not speak Portuguese neither English.

Some sites says she had some RABBITS, not aliens.

Is she crazy? What do you think about?

IFW Nodal, Panels w/Rivets?

That's what I was thinking...

(Now, if I could only get IFW2 textures working with my 64 bit OS X version of LW 11 I'd be happy...)

Thanks for the kind comments, much appreciated.

I wonder.... 34 downloads and had any body actually opened it? :D

The rivets are a very rough normal map.
This one.

First off, this is an excellent model, however, I'm having the hardest time trying to take off the propellers<<no offense, but I need the object to be perfectly round.

Really nice model Xswampy, thank you very much.

I did render it and it was slow on my system, took awhile. I will study the intricate work you did on it next.

There is a fair bit going on in the node for the ships surface. Try removing the occlusion node and its gradients.

It takes just over 4 seconds to render via VPR on my system.
