Wasn't going to see it until the eldest son wanted to go. So glad I did. It is a lot better than the previous films, mostly because of the VFX. He looks believable in this one. His movement is correct when he interacts with his environment.

Not watched, but I wonder if shows the LightWave work that was done.

haven't seen any LW info.

Lightwave would be superb to use to create that set though. Done in 1-2-3.

Lightwave would also be super for Previz, especially with the brand new LW 11.X features.

I'm not sure what most of the other studios used, but my studio used LightWave to render the Maya-animated spider walking along the edge of the skateboard in Peter's room; a Maya-animated CG coat sleeve; random Maya-animated house-spider-swinging-on-web shots; a 100%-LightWave web-weaving robot in Connor's lab (model/animation/rig), and....

SPOILER

...the Maya-animated lizard-rat eating the Maya-animated rat's *** in Connor's lab. I got to tweak the FiberFX on that one.

END SPOILER

1 hour documentary about the Spiderman co-creator, Steve Ditko

(which unfortunately didn't want to be filmed or sound recorded...) :]

"Since the 1960s, Ditko has declined most interviews, stating that it is his work he offers readers, and not his personality." -Wiki

Hey Jen

Did your studio also did compositing?
Any problems with FFX alpha channel?
How do the Lightwave Stereo match the maya and live action stereo?

Really great to know Lightwave is in Spiderman 4

Will see the film soon.

Yes, my studio did compositing in addition to match-moving and rendering. I do not remember any problems with the FFX alpha channel.

A co-worker match-moved the cameras in Maya and exported them to LightWave through FBX.

Great presentation yesterday Jen! It's great to have some of the artists on here that can clarify the pipeline and show some techniques!

:( the sad part is that they can't show the videos throught web :(

But it's really cool to see a beauty and talented lightwave artist like Jennifer doing lightwave spiders to spiderman film!

I Just hope Lightwave team grow on Pixomondo before 11.5 version and back to be a choice tool at other studios like Digital Domain wich have been Lightwave based in the past.

The second video talks about who the artist continued to strive to achieve an authentic look... well, you did. So many shots were full cg, it's amazing.
