Been looking for tutorials or anything on this and I come up with some stuff but its all offline now. Tuts that would use Sasquatch and Saslite.

Any chance any one know of one thats still relevant and works.

Or a quick tip would do.

Am just trying to make a grass field and obviously use Instancing for that as well.

Thanks

Not sure instancing would work with Sas (??) -- To make decent grass with instancing, I usually model several blades (with weight map) and clone/arrange them as a tuft or several tufts of grass, prior to instancing. Then they're texture-animatable with displacements in a more believable way than just modeling one or two blades.

This is pre-LW11, so it uses the HD Instance plugin, but it'll probably not take much effort to convert the method to LW's own instancing:

Thanks for the tips DrStrik9 and the link Carboard.

I would like to refer you to a tutorial I found but it is to a different program (modo) any chance I can add that link here? (don't know the proper linking etiquette)

And you can see what I was aiming at. Let me know and I will post it. if not I will go from here.

Guys I am following this tutorial by William Vaughan and the clump in Lightwave 11 does not work as it should. Please someone else try this and confirm that it is not just me. Link below

Id appreciate this.

I am also working on converting the version posted above. but I wanted to learn both ways and have options.

If you're talking about clump merging to a single point, it's because you are using just a single polygon plane. You get one blade of grass for each polygon you have. It gets raised fairly regularly.

Thanks for the replay Cagey5. I will give that a try.

Also saw that you suggested trying Instancing instead. So I will try that

Thanks

There is a good scene that shows off instancing grass in the 11 content. It's called Grass_and_LW_logo in the instancing folder.
