My friend and I are building a Hackintosh. Right now we have everything except a graphics card, and I come here respectfully seeking advice on which graphics card to select. :)

The system includes:
- Intel Core i7 processor (4 cores)
- Z68XP-UD3 motherboard from Gigabyte
- Plenty of RAM

My friend knows a LOT more about computers than I do; I don't know that much about comp architecture. However I do know more about Lightwave and my understanding is that LW doesn't always use the graphics card.

The Graphics Cards we're looking at are:
- nVidia Geforce GTX560
- nVidia Quadro 4000 for Mac
(Both are compatible with Hackintoshes)

Would LW be able to take advantage of the extra GPU power on the higher-end card???
Alternatively, since the Hackintosh can also boot Windows, would it be better to switch to LW on Windows? Could LW Windows use the extra GPU power?

Get the geforce, the quadro's are a waste of money 99% of the time. The 4000 is based on an older GPU and you won't see any real benefit of using it with Lightwave.

Yep 560 will do just fie and LW is barely using any benefits of Quadro cards/drivers so you'll just pay more money and get nothing better in LW.
