There are already pins allocated on the D-Sub port; I'd assume a basic GPIO or I2C interface wouldn't be too difficult to implement.

On the previous NewTek product with the 15 pin Tally connector (VT) the GPI pins were inputs that triggered either a take or an auto.

Interesting. If the pins were used for I2C, one could do bidirectional communication with an Arduino or Raspberry Pi. External control AND red/green tally output! Those pins have a lot of potential.

Note: as long as both pins are addressable as GPIO from the TriCaster software, they could be used as I2C via bit-banging without needing any added hardware.

any of you guys connect to a sony ccu m5 or similar... is it a direct connection?
