Hmm....

Not sure I like the extreme CGI-look of the FX-shots... I guess things will be much better in the actual production since this is just to sell the idea and get funding.

yeah I'm hopeful for this series but so far looking a little 1990's

Guess that's retro now though??

Space Command, the new independent sci-fi film project with Star Trek vets behind and in front of the camera, has wrapped up it’s Kickstarter fundraising campaign, and even exceeded its goal. Filming now set to start later this year. We have the new VFX Demo created by Star Trek vet Doug Drexler, plus footage from the SDCC panel, and more. Check that all out below.

Well the project is funded.

Here is a recent update:

"

First off, I’m busy at work finishing the first SPACE COMMAND screenplay. Beyond that we’re actually hoping for me to write the first eight hours of the saga straight through – the first four features (or an eight-episode season, if it were a TV series).

Naturally, we’ll shoot the first script first and get that to you as soon as possible.

But writing so much of the story right off the bat will allow me to really nail down the epic canvas, the long view of the story arc (as my friend George R.R. Martin, with whom I worked on BEAUTY AND THE BEAST and THE NEW TWILIGHT ZONE, has done so well with GAME OF THRONES, which I’m watching now and really enjoying).

In addition, this will give us the chance to design a large number of ships, characters, terrains, costumes, weapons, etc., in one fell swoop – allowing us to generate what’s called a “style sheet,” a consistent set of designs from which we can create such offshoots as novels, graphic novels, comics and videogames (and unlike other franchises I won’t name, my goal is for all of these to be “canon” -- in other words, actually part of the authorized story, something to expand and clarify the universe, history and storylines of SPACE COMMAND).

It’s been quite an amazing few weeks since we completed our Kickstarter campaign. Right off the bat, I sat down and wrote the SPACE COMMAND series bible, a document laying out the characters and storylines of our series, which I sent to our cast and crew to start moving ahead with pre-production.

I then had to take a few days to write the introduction "
