Does a faster GFX card help in terms of viewport performance regarding usage of color space (sRGB) ? This is very noticable when the modeler window is maximized. If in sRGB performance slows down, if in linear mode performance stays the same. Now, this is due to color conversions going on in the background and it is much more work to convert the entire screen then just the portion of it. I guess the GFX card is doing the conversion (not sure) so the question is if I upgrade from GTX 295 to something modern will I have smooth fullscreen viewport when using sRGB color space ?

Are you absolutely sure ? Are you saying you're getting full screen slowdowns with GTX690 type of card ?

A GTX690 is obviously faster but I don't think the conversion is done by the GPU otherwise it would be faster.

Just play with the display and look at your system resources. Your CPU jumps to higher values when convert to srgb is checked. So it must be a CPU thing ;)
