Speed Modeling Challenge #173 - Hot hot hot!

1. Every week there will be a subject for you to model along with a time limit. You should spend no longer than the allocated time, then post a render of your model. As in most challenges like this, your honesty on modeling times is essential. How you interpret the brief is up to you as long as the final model conforms to what is asked for.
2. Post a wire-frame and a render at 800x600 or larger.
3. LightWave must be used for modeling. 3rd party Plug-ins are allowed.
4. You can enter as many times as you like, posting each in this thread. If you run over the time, the model can still be posted but won't be subject to the judging.
5. Time spent on texturing, setting up a scene for a render and rendering is not included in the allocated period.
6. The winner is judged by the challenge starter and the prize is to set up the challenge after next week's .

This week's topic is: Hot hot hot!
Topical in the UK as we're finally having good weather! Anything related to heat or hot weather.................

Nice entry there Rabbitpenny, food is an absolute bugger to texture, I know I don't have the patience to wrestle with it for very long.

Another model I had attempted in a previous challenge. I was hoping to do a bit more with this, but ran out of time.

So this is your first challenge? If so, welcome, hope to see more entries from you. :)

Not that I can talk, I'm often very aloof when it comes to the challenges.

@XswampyX; nice fan, I'm quite liking the metallic material

Fantastic work as always XswampyX.
This isn't just a name thing-it takes me back to a couple of great summers when I was a teenager discovering all the things teenagers do on warm school holiday nights...........

Nice work guys,

I modelled a classic water pistol, but managed to go over the limit by 10mins. Anyway...renders tomorrow.

Sadly didn't get a chance this week - wanted to do a classic school lab bunsen with hose and gas tap - but just ran out of spare minutes.

Grand stuff everyone - great entries.

Nice one JoePoe. How did you get the tread pattern on the bottom of your flip-flops? Looks real good!

06-03-2012, 04:33 PM
The tread is a geometry displacement using the Pipes procedural with a weight map controlling falloff. :beerchug:
