View Full Version : baking reflections on a cube

I have to bake the reflections of a room onto a cube. Baking on a sphere worked well with the surface baking camera. But now with the cube It does not work anymore. When baking the cube, there are only very small regions rendered.

Does anyone know this problem or has a tip for me?

I'm not sure if this is the correct way of doing this but I did a test and found if you create your box, uv it, subpatch it (i used subpatch level 6) then send it to layout. You bake your reflections to a texture using your surface baking camera. Then back in modeler turn subpatch off and apply the baked texture to your box.

Hope this helps.

When baking make sure your geometry is very very clean, no 1 point or 2 point polygons, no overlapping geometry, no duplicated poligons, no ngons and if possible a water-tight mesh. So merge, unify, triple, delete loose pionts and anything that is not triangles. You probably knew that, but just in case =).
