With the ability to model with splines and sub-d etc., does LW support continous curvature, so that there are no "seams" between surfaces.

For example, if you model half a car and mirror it you will have a seam. You could visually tweak it to reduce it, but mathmatically it is still there.

Is there a tool to maintain curvature over surface seams?

Hope I'm understanding you right, but there are no seams if when you mirror your polys you merge the points afterward.
Select the points on the mirror plane (usualy X-axis) and use the set value tool to bring them all to zero on the X. Then Mirror along X at zero and click on merge points button within the mirror tool.
If your patch modeling outside of a simple axis just "merge points"
with a distance of zero. all points that sit on top of each other are welded together. (points must be in same layer)

Hope that answers your question.
