Too bad. A super rich company like google didn't even bother to keep the 3D division anymore.

Hopefully this won't happen with lw, right? Still hoping to see the unification on top of any feature request.

I wish Adobe would get a 3D product. And develop it here. And hire me to harangue them.

At least Autodesk didn't end up with it.

Their first order of business would have been to slap a $2K price tag on each license.

YET... remember Maya was sold to a pension investment firm...then later to autodesk.

I'm sure autodesk will gobble it up in a year or so.:cat:
sometimes in a game of chess things don't move in straight lines or diagonals...sometimes they behave like a Knight to distract from a more direct acquisition.

Trimble have their own sector of 3D - geo-positioning - and do very well at it.

As a paying sketchup user I would be more worried about a) innovation and b) pricing ...

Sketchup is awesome. I wish I had more call for using it, but when I did I really enjoyed it.

I'll admit I'd rather teach a noob SketchUp than LightWave.

Autodesk will buy and will insert as new Autocad menus :). They like to add more menus to the interface.
