View Full Version : Garish, Mandelbrot-y procedural?

Does LW have a garish, multi-colored, parti-colored procedural that will result in Mandelbrot-esque pattern?

Thanks, Hivemind! :help:

About Mandelbrot, try IFW2: http://www.shaders.co.uk/ifw2_nodal/nodal_index/IFW2_Fractals/index.htm

Great link Papou... Are these genuine fractals? If you can keep zooming in on them, to vary the texture they could be very useful indeed.

i suppose you can keep zooming into them. But it's better to ask to the dev and/or maybe try the demo.

Genuine since before 1992.

I have a mandelbrot geometry generator script that I should dust off and make available, should there be any interest. I've been kind of wanting to rewrite it in python, but I suppose that doesn't preclude the lscript version.

The screenshot shows the result using just its default parameters. I'm also torn between whether the script should try to optimize co-planar polys, or just leave it to another tool. I can see arguments both ways, but the lazy part of me says to just leave it to another tool. :) (is it qemloss that I'm thinking of?) It would also probably be a lot of work, and vastly complicate it. (I think thats partly why I haven't released it yet though, it feels incomplete somehow).

u can try this old pixel filter for lw6...maybe it can be used as texture filter...maybe it can just be used:

I remember about a displacement plugin or a terrain generator, mandelbrot based. I can't remember the named...

Thanks guys! Just to be clear, I was only looking for a 2D surface generator, but the geometry generators are interesting!
