I am not doing a space shuttle but a Mars lander vehicle.

I just want to make sure my suface texture is as photo real as possible including possible burn spost from going through atmosphere.

Any links or suggestions would be appreciated.

I am not sure a shuttle set of textures would be quite the right thing for a Mars lander. Mars has very little atmosphere compared to earth.

There was a flight sim a while back that let you alter the conditions to fly as if on Mars. For a conventional fixed wing aircraft, the stall speed was fater than the speed of sound. It might make for a rough landing as you touched down on an unimproved suface at over six hundred miles per hour. Your lander should probably be more like the one we used to land on the moon than the glider that the shuttle is unless you plan on terraforming the red planet first.

That said, the NASA web page has literally thousands of pictures freely available to the public. You could probably find something you could use as a starting point for designing your own textures there.
