A standard 8 bit grayscale alpha channel only has 256 possible different values.

When you use the Alpha outputs available in the node editors, are the possible outputs also limited to 0>>255?

tnx!

All of the node connections, with the exception of integer connections, use 32-bit floats internally.
So basically, not only can the values go beyond the 0..1 range (in either direction) but there's a load of precision within that range as well (23bits to be precise).

Cheers

Thanks Mike, that was clearer than clear.
