in fact its not a real model i think

i just imagined what shape i would like to see of the net part so i tought i would try
make the net in that shape and then shape up the rest of the mic acording to that so not shure if there exist a mic that looks like that
but ime prety satisfied with the end look of it :)

first i modeled the net it selv beeing flad out like a square net.
then i model a cloth plane the same size with as meny secments as the net
then i shape the base of the top as a model

then i use cloth fx to drop the plane down on the model so it shapes out like that and then i apply metafx to the net plane to make it follow the cloth plane and it will transform to the shape of the cloth

then save as transformed and continue modeling on it in modeler again.

Realy Nice! Concept is great, also the beckground atmosphere corresponds to the model. I think I'm somewhere saw the video tutorial for the microphone, but I can not remember where? It is also done with cloth fx! ...will try to find.

Thanks for fleshing out your post with the explanation. Very clever.

I think the main benefits from these challenges are people sharing techniques.

Indeed, I'm watching that tute right now.

But you did an excellent job getting the lowrez mesh to conform to the collision object-- was there any special tricks in getting it to adhere so nicely?
