Is there a resource about LW surfacing available, that explains what the different nodes do, when and why to use which and showing the effect by examples?
Something that helps to create e.g. a gum covered cylinder, brushed metal, a somehow translucend plastic, a polished but worn floor etc?

Maybe a book, PDF, video series?

Yeah, I second that. Where is the big repository of info on this magic part of Lightwave, I know it can do wonderful things but I've never seen any supplied description on how to use it, apart from users. Why does Newtek hide this part of Lightwave? Should be promoted, shouldn't be a mystery.

CG-Masters 11 part Texturing series uses nodes and goes into some detail. It is not all nodes. However overall it is the best texturing video series for LW I have seen. http://online.cg-masters.com/videos/software/3

presetcentral might have some node "ideas" (though not tutorials)

Thanks Dexter. This is always a problem. Just about everything from Kurv ended up on pirate sites in short order...
