View Full Version : Panning speed should be scaled to zoom setting

I am using LW Ver. 9.6. In Layout, especially when viewing the scene in one of the isometric views, the absolute panning speed seems to be fixed and oblivious to your current zoom setting. When really zoomed in, panning is so overly sensitive it is almost useless. Panning should be more fine when zoomed in and more course when zoomed out. In otherwords, a given amount of mouse movement should pan the view the same relative screen size amount regardless of how far you are zoomed in. Instead the pan amount is fixed relative to your geometry irrespective of zoom amount. Does this makes sense?

I have always struggled with that too!
In fact the mouse/panning speed ratio depends on the "Grid Square Size" found in "Display Properties" and is a documented feature (!)
The same principle applies to Translation, Rotation and Scaling changes, at least in 9.6. I think it's changed in 10/11.

It may be useful at times for "micro-movements", but it's non-standard compared to other applications...

Don't know if there is a workaround...
