I am working on a project to visualise brain network dynamics and I'm looking for a good tool to work on the visualisation part of it. Essentially, I will have to graphically (realistically) show the flow of information through the brain network.

I have not used LightWave 11 before and would like to know if this
will be a suitable deployment for the project.

Yes, Lightwave can handle something like this. Most of the animation would probably just be texture maps timed to move down the various objects to show signals leaving one cell and setting off the next one in a chain.

dinesh, we make a volume rendering plugin for LightWave, called VoluMedic. One of our clients is a neuro- scientist who is using fMRIs to determine the connections between different parts of the brain. He is using NIFTI datasets that VoluMedic can read.
I am not sure whether that is what you are after, but if I am right, you may want to take a look at what our software has to offer for you?
