View Full Version : Tearing open a packet...where to start?

Hi All,

I have to create an animation of a packet of trading cards being torn open. You know the ones you get from the newsagents with 5 or 10 cards in it?

Just wondering where best to start with this?

Is this one for cloth dynamics with the cut/sew function?

Or maybe it's as simple as creating a few morphs?

Any suggestions welcome! :)

I would use Effectors. Model your packet in 2 pieces, main part and the piece you want to rip off in another layer. In Layout, bring in your packet and create a "base" null and a "handle" null and apply the Bend effector - animate the position of your "handle" null.

Love Effectors, save so much time! William Vaughn did a great intro on how to use them but can't find it, annoyingly they aren't the ones called "Effector"!

Under the "Animation" title there's the "Introduction to the Effector custom object
Note: Be sure to watch the Effector video "Using Effector to displace a tube".

raw-m: my mistake, I missed the "annoyingly they aren't the ones called "Effector"!"

by the time I realized that, I couldn't erase the post (still can't). Well, if someone is looking for the effectors video (not suitable to this threat) they're above this post.
