hey everyone

ime trying to find out how newteks licences is reguarding student / teatching relations.

i work in a small course center with around 70 students in all
and sometimes we do have studens who want to look abit into 3D
and we are wondering, If we wantet to buy a couple of lightwave seats to teatch students some basic 3d graphics, does newtek have a student licence for a teatching version and how is the seat pricing on that ?
cant seem to find anything about it on there page.

Another question is reguaring updates.

If one have a lightwave version and want to update to 10 / 11

Is there a limit to how old a version you need to be able to upgrade
or is that just 10 -> 11
or can you upgrade for the same price if you have say lw 5 or lw 6 -7 ?

best regards

mis

We paid $1800.00 or so for a ten-seat pack. That was for ten.
Yeah, u gotta call.

I don't think they look back at your old and add based on how far back you are. If you aren't in the hc club, i'm sure it's the regular price.

Newtek Europe just quoted me 199 + VAT for a 5 Seat pack (planning on upgrading almost 40 Lightwave 9 licenses to LW10 (with free update to 11).

Upgrades is a good point .. we bought 2 seats of LW10 for the university, I haven't enquired how much it would be to upgrade them to 11 ... :/

If it's anything like vue, you would just pay the full edu price again (180 or so sounds right).

.. actually this is a better deal than Vue, because with vue you have to pay every year (techinicaly, I don't think they are time based licenses). Same with Modo - the difference is that upgrades are included (it's like an EDU subscription).

__________

Skonk - That sounds awesome! I was quoted 2x as much for a 5 seat pack last year by NT EU. Perhaps your volume ?

Would be great to get some clarification here ..

year 30 day trail ofcause work however in the end it doesnt
cause it generates its seriel from the mashine so
when you have run trail once you cant do trail again cause the serial
has alraedy been trailed

so year if theres a say 5 seat or so student licence
i would love if i can get some acual price info on that
what it would cost to invest in that

yes, 30 day trial only last for that long, 30 days...
i know kurv/larry used this option, but only for short classes.

you might wanna contact customer support, see what they say.
(might be cheaper to order from the US, if possible... and not newtek.europe)

i know what 30 days meens
thats not what ime saying

what i say is

I HAD lightwave 10.0 Trail on a mashine about half a year ago

today i uninstalled that and installed the new 10.1 Trail on it
but the registration says that the serial that
10.1 posts me alreay has been Trailed.
so i do not get a serial for 10.1

cause i have trailed 10.0 on the same mashine ealyer

I made chuck aware of this a few months ago , he did respond and did ask me to contact customer services regarding this issue "i forgot", point release will not let you re-register ," i tried " ..so in turn if you regestered for 10.0 you cannot re-register for 10.1 i think it was an oversight more than not wanting to give you an extra 30 days

that makes sense though,
not to be able to extend the trial by simply updating a point release...

if it was from 10 to 11 however, that would have been a different story...

well i would imagine that lw 11 would generate the same serial
when run on the same mashine and the problem will still be there

but still

find it alittle odd that if you have testet lw for 30 days after half a year
you cant test it 30 days again

ofcause if you reregister every 30 days but after half a year ......

Is that for Upgrading 5 seats or is that for buying 5 total new seats ?

You could always try an educational store - http://www.creationengine.com/html/ld.lasso?ld=33004 they need to see certificates and stuff before they sell to you, though.

just trying to find out what exactly it is they need

just that the price i got from them from a 5 seat is alot different then what
skonk wrote
so wondering if that price skonk posted only is for upgrades of 5 seat.
